Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to store supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few kinds: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This particular model is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Inside the majority of warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and can increase production while making the most of available storage space.
