Forklifts are vehicles usually found in factories, warehouses and different work locations where it is necessary to move heavy materials from one location to another. The mast is the mechanism located on the front of the forklift that hydraulically lifts and lowers the load. The "cat" is the protected area where the forklift operator sits.
Forklifts are capable of lifting loads between one and five tons in weight. Several types can be utilized to lift shipping containers and much heavier loads.
Forklift tires should be maintained and checked on a regular basis. The types of tires on various forklifts vary based on factors like for instance ground surfaces, frequency of use and load weights. Every forklift driver must have access to a forklift jack, tire press and replacement tires.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
Perform tire inspections on a regular basis. Watch for signs of wear and damage to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40 percent, it has to be replaced.
When buying tires, make sure that you are buying the right type - solid, pneumatic or polyurethane.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and raise the forklift high enough that you can change the tires easily.
To remove the damaged tire, pull the tire from the rim using the tire press. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you only have one jack, lower the forklift, and afterward reposition the jack at the next tire.
A repair company could offer on-site tire repair. If the tire is too big for both mobile and in-house tire presses, the damaged tire should be transported to a shop which has a stationary tire press.
