How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, because the ease of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks that would have otherwise needed working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific machinery make it the right alternative for completing jobs from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machinery. These batteries would need to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machine has to be positioned next to an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated near the control box or the charger, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, older models would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and after that plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can likely happen.
