Forklift trucks are essential pieces of machines utilized widely in business, particularly in distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial facilities. A lift truck is constructed of hundreds of parts, like the cab, the carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks normally have a range of attachments too. The following are several of the most essential parts of a forklift.

Engine of the Lift Truck - the lift truck is designed with a power source at the back of the equipment. Various types of lift trucks have different types of engine which require varying power sources. For example, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine could have as its power source any of the following: gasoline, diesel, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.

Truck Frame - The truck frame is the base of the forklift and the most vital of all the forklift components. This forms the core of the equipment. All other parts of a lift truck are connected to the base, like the axles, mast, wheels counterweight and overhead guard. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks could be part of the frame assembly also.

Counterweight Forklift Components - While carrying heavy cargo, the counterweight enables the equipment to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. In an electric lift truck, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and can work as part of the counterweight.

The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the equipment. Several lift trucks have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are many components situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such important parts like for example the pedals, seats, levers, switches, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard has operator readouts.
